One would have thought that with COVID 19 around and all the crisis plaguing most African countries, the rate of poverty and business down drain will be alarming. However, amidst all these, some very strong giants still manage to stand strong and even stronger.
Beneath is a list of the top ten richest men in Africa according to Business Insider Africa and the Forbes Magazine. The level of riches is measured based on stock prices, currency exchange rates from January 2022 and world records.

Aliko Dangote, Net worth 20.1$ billion (Nigerian)
- This is the 11th time Dangote surfaces as the richest man in Africa. He has been at the top conservatively for these years and note that he is a Nigerian by nationality.
- Dangote deals in Cement production and distribution( the recent increase in stock has placed him at top of the Billionaires list.
- Dangote also deals in oil refinery and sugar production
- He ranks 96th on the global billionaires index

Johann Rupert “11.8$ billion“ (South African)
- Ropert is a South African Business man who deals with brands such as Jewellery and Fashion labels like #aZZedine Alaia, #chloe , #Dunhill.
- He controls the world’s largest luxury Watch Maker Financiere Richemonth
- His family company brands include Jaegar-LeCoultre and Cartier
- Ropert ranks as the 184th richest person in the world

Nicky Oppenheimer “8.30$ billion“ (South African)
- N.O is a South African Business man who is the leading producer of Durum Wheat Flour.
- N.O also owns about 720square miles of Land across South Africa, Botswana and Zimbabwe.
- He is heir to the DeBeers diamond fortune
- And he has also been a part of Egypt’s second largest Pasta Manufacturer
- He is the 295th richest person in the world

Natie Kirsh “7.98$ billion (South African)
- In the last few months, there’s been an increase in the value of Kish’s valuable assets “Jetro Holdings”
- Kish runs the Jetro Holdings, a new York based Conglomerate that manages two wholesale grocery businesses in the United States. According to the Business insider, 71% stakes in Jetro Holdings accounts for 61% of his wealth.
- He ranks 319 on the list of richest world index

Nasef Sawiris 6.56$ billion ( Egyptian)
- He is the creator of the Addidas brand and lately there’s been an increase in the market value of his stakes . ( Just gained 260 million) while loosing almost the same amount in Germany which puts him 14million behind Dangote.
- He runs OCI, a nitrogen Fertilizer production firm which is one of the largest in the world.
- He is also part of Orasiom construction, an engineering and building firm.
- Sawiris is reported by Forbes magazine to be the richest man in Egypt

Abdulsamad Rabiu “7$ billion (Nigerian)
- He is into Cement production sugar refining and real estate business.
- Rabiu is the CEO of BUA cement PLC and in 1988, he was importing iron, steal and chemicals. These amounts to build his riches.

Mike Adenuga ( Nigerian)
Mike is the second riches man in Nigeria and gets his riches from the following businesses:
- He has a mobile phone network Global.com which has about 5.5 million subscribers and third largest in Nigeria.
- He also has an oil exploration outfit, Conoil and it is worth nothing that he made his first million at the age of 26 selling Lace and soft drinks.

- The CEO of Cevital, Algeria’s biggest private Company which is a sugar refinary.
- Note that Issad was just recently released from Prison in 2020 on account of Corruption.

- Sawiris is a brother to Nassef Sawiris who is the 5th richest man in Africa.
- Naguid built a fortune in his Telecom business as the Chairman of Orascom TMT. By selling Orascom to the Russian 2011 Telecom firm, he made a fortune.
- He owns 88© of Pan-European Pay TV and video news network, Euronews.
- He also has a luxury resort called SilverSands on Caribbean Island.

- Patrice is the founder of African Rainbow Minerals. He was the first black African on the Forbes list in 2008.
- He is also the president of Mamelodi Sundown’s Football Club and it’s worth nothing in 2021, he became president of CAF,
- He is a partner at law firm Bowman Gilfillan Johannesburg
